The people behind the passes
Mike Andrews – Director and founder, Energy Saving Experts
Before starting Energy Saving Experts, Mike gained senior management experience in the retail sector, where he was responsible for annual budgets in excess of £60 million. Mike’s career has taken him across Europe and he has worked in Delft, Holland and Shanghai, China.
Always a self-starter, Mike has continued to develop and grow, gaining professional qualifications and accreditations that far exceed the industry standard. He also takes an active role in the industry, as a member of many professional organisations and has gained a reputation as a key figure in the energy assessment sector. Mike has recently contributed to the 4th edition of the Architects Handbook, revising Conservation of Fuel & Power, and Sustainability, energy saving and green issues. He has also written two guidance books, a Guide to SBEM & Part L2A, and another on compliance with Part L1B, there will be two further guides for Part L1A & L2B. He has also written a guidance paper on Thermal Bridging.
When Mike’s not carrying out assessments, or meeting with clients, he enjoys the great outdoors. He’s a member of The National Trust and English Heritage, enjoys cycling, walking with his family, watching Bath Rugby, and is slowly creating a garden for wildlife with native hedging, a pond, wildflowers and places for wildlife to hide in. He’s also a music fan, with some diverse tastes, anything Miles Davis, and a penchant for some bands that many have said are virtually unlistenable.
Professional qualifications: Non Domestic Energy Assessor Level 4, On Construction Energy (SAP) Assessor, Public Building Energy Assessor, Retrofit Co-ordinator
