Mike Andrews – Director and founder, Energy Saving Experts
Before starting Energy Saving Experts, Mike gained senior management experience in the retail sector, where he was responsible for annual budgets in excess of £60 million. Mike’s career has taken him across Europe and he has worked in Delft, Holland and Shanghai, China.
Always aiming to learn more, Mike has continued to develop and grow, gaining professional qualifications and accreditation’s that far exceed the industry standard. He also takes an active role in the industry, as a member of many professional organisations and has gained a high reputation in the energy assessment sector. In addition to being qualified in all areas of Part L compliance, Mike is a Home Inspector, Retrofit Co-ordinator and Assessor, Building Biology Advocate, and has been a consultant to both BANES and South Oxford Planning depts on issues around energy and sustainability. Mike has contributed to the 4th, 5th & 6th editions of the Architects Handbook, revising Conservation of Fuel & Power, and Sustainability, energy saving and green issues. He has also written three guidance books, a Guide to SBEM & Part L2A, and another on compliance with Part L1B, and SAP – The Essential Guide for Dwelling Designers & Architects.
When Mike’s not carrying out assessments, or meeting with clients, he enjoys being outdoors. He’s a member of The National Trust, The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB, The Green Party, C.N.D, Bumblebee Conservation Society and Wetlands Trust and enjoys cycling, running, walking with his family, and is slowly creating a wildlife garden. A member of The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, at Bard level, he’s also a lover of art, folklore and a fan of music with some diverse tastes, anything Miles Davis, The Grateful Dead, Elvis Costello, Sonic Youth and a fair dose of heavy metal, plus a penchant for some bands that many have said are virtually unlistenable.
Professional qualifications: Non Domestic Energy Assessor Level 4, On Construction Energy (SAP) Assessor, Public Building Energy Assessor, Retrofit Co-ordinator & Assessor, Domestic Energy Assessor,Building Biology Advocate. Mike has recently been accepted on Elmhurst Energy’s Better Building Consultant Competency Scheme.
Mandy Andrews – Director, Energy Saving Experts
Mandy’s background is in retail fashion where, after graduating from the London College of Fashion, she spent 10 years gaining senior level management experience across the UK.
After a break to have her first child Mandy retrained and worked as a counsellor. Now, she’s brought her boundless energy and mixture of management and listening skills to make a success of Energy Saving Experts.
When Mandy’s not busy in the Energy Saving Experts office, she loves the great outdoors, walking, healthy living and healthy eating. She is active in her local community and has taken on many roles over the years including treasurer, secretary and fundraiser for several different organisations.
