Retrofit  Assessment – What do we do?

We complete a detailed survey of your property including construction details and layout survey, what your existing heating and hot water provision is , how its controlled, and identify if there are any underlying problems, for example damp or condensation. We also aim to gain an understanding of how you use the property (heating patterns, ventilation, energy bills) and the desired outcome from the energy saving improvements.

An Energy Report will be produced,  as a starting point using the RdSAP methodology from the existing.

The Condition Report will also detail any building defects like damp/condensation issues, or other building problems required before any energy saving measures can be installed.

Finally, an Occupancy Evaluation will look at your previous years energy bills and the way you use energy in your house, so that together with the Energy Report you have a clear understanding of how energy used, and where improvements can be made.

Depending on the size of the house and what your requirements are, a survey will take approximately 2 – 3 hrs, and we spend  at least a further half day working on the desk top study.

The information we provide can be taylored to your specific requirements in addition to the standard reporting structure detailed above as these can be less informative when it comes to the detail required.

Once you have the knowledge of how energy is used in your home, how your occupancy affects the energy use, and any defects that may need attention, you are in a position to determine what’s next to improve your home. We can help you with this process by modelling the effect of various options based on the above reports in full SAP. An additional charge would be made for this dependent on the level of our involvement.
